OTHER FUTURE PLANNING
Future planning assessments should be the most important part of the assessment process. Information should be gathered in multiple areas to help the student and transition planning team write and implement successful transition plans. Information that should be included in this process includes career and technical education and employment options; home living options, recreation/leisure options, and transportation options along with health and financial needs. There are many assessments available in this area so professionals participating in the assessment process should make an extra effort to match the assessment to the needs of the student with disabilities so that the measureable outcome transition goals can be developed and successfully reached.
This site presents an explanation of informal assessments and how to conduct them. http://www.nsttac.org/?FileName=tag#informalAssessments
